About this work
An etched landscape showing a stone arched bridge over a rushing stream, with a woman and a man fishing in the foreground beside a gnarled, wind-bent tree. A round stone tower stands on a hill at right, and two figures ride across the bridge under a cloudy sky. The inscription beneath the image is a dedication to Louis Hercule Timoléon de Cossé de Brissac, identifying the view as Cossé, and the print is attributed to Joseph Vernet, dated 1750.
