About this work
This engraved landscape shows a ruined round fortress tower and a church steeple on a hill above a river. A stone arched bridge spans the water, and a waterfall spills over rocks in the foreground, where two figures gather near a basket. The title reads L'Ancienne Forteresse, and the print is attributed to Joseph Vernet, dated 1750.
