About this work
Die Gantrischkette by Ferdinand Hodler, dated 1898, shows a jagged mountain range rising above rolling golden and green hillsides under a pale, cloud-streaked sky. Warm red and violet tones lit on the peaks contrast with the ochre meadows in the foreground, where a few trees and a winding path cross the slopes.
