About this work

This ink and wash drawing shows a riverside view of a city, with a stone arched bridge crossing the water in the foreground and a turreted medieval tower rising above a row of stone buildings. The sepia tones and soft washes give the scene a muted, atmospheric quality, and a distant bridge recedes into the right background.
