About this work

This etching shows the interior of a long, vaulted hall lit by tall pointed Gothic windows, with two standing figures on a wooden floor near a wall partly covered by old tapestry. Drawn and etched by John Thomas Smith and published in London in 1806, it records the chamber as it appeared in the year 1800, before the old tapestry was removed.
