About this work
This etching shows a north-east view of an old timber-framed house in Sweedon's Passage, Grub Street, with a leaning upper storey, a jettied bay window and a steeply pitched roof. Figures stand at the doorway and a dog walks in the cobbled street, while laundry hangs from the building. The print is titled Domestic Architecture and is attributed to John Thomas Smith, dated 1791.
