About this work

This engraved interior view shows the northeast side of the back of the original altar of St. Bartholomew the Greater, with massive cylindrical columns, carved capitals, and a round-arched doorway. Through an opening on the right, a vaulted passage and pews are visible. The print by John Thomas Smith was published in 1811 and records the church's early Norman architecture.
