About this work
A gouache and ink drawing shows a row of uniformed soldiers in spiked pickelhaube helmets and blue coats with red collars, their rifles held upright. In the foreground a smaller figure in a blue cap and red-trimmed coat strides across a pale snowy street, with a building facade behind. The work is signed Weisgerber and dated 1905.
