This hand-coloured print titled The Cow House by James Ward, dated 1793, shows a barn interior with a white spotted cow being milked by a man on a low stool while a seated woman rests her head on her hand beside him. Chickens, a dog, a calf and other cattle fill the straw-covered floor and timber stalls. The inscription beneath the image records publication in London by T. Simpson of St Paul's Church Yard.
