About this work

This watercolour shows a rural brickfield with a round brick kiln emitting smoke at its centre, flanked by wooden sheds and low brick structures. Two figures stand on a stacked pile of bricks, and autumn trees and a dim wooded ridge frame the scene under a pale sky with a crescent moon. The work is attributed to George Price Boyce and dated 1866.
