About this work

A grey wash drawing of four people seated around a round table playing cards in a richly furnished interior with framed pictures and a fireplace. One man holds a hand of cards while another looks intently at his neighbour, and two women in period dress look on, one holding cards close to her chest. The sketch is signed with initials at lower right and carries the handwritten caption "No. 2. The Decision" beneath it, attributed to Adelaide Claxton.
