About this work
A still life painting shows green, red and dark blue grapes spilling from a wicker basket alongside peaches, plums and walnuts, arranged on a stone ledge against a dark background. A red admiral butterfly hovers above the fruit, and grapevine tendrils and leaves frame the composition. The work is attributed to Franz Xaver Petter and bears a signature with the date 1823 in the lower right corner.
