About this work
This black and white engraving shows the ruined Gothic arches of Bolton Abbey beside a river, with dense trees on the bank and cattle resting in the shallow water and on the gravel in the foreground. The printed caption reads Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire, and the sheet is credited as drawn by Thomas Girtin. The plate was published in 1809 by Thos. Palser.
