A dense, richly textured painting shows several figures, mostly women in pale and rose-toned dresses, gathered and reclining in a shadowy woodland clearing. Loose, impasto brushwork dissolves the forms into the dark foliage, with touches of light on the trees and figures. The work is attributed to Adolphe Joseph Thomas Monticelli and dated 1860.
