About this work

A two-sided German emergency banknote from the city of Hameln, dated 1922, with a 50 Pfennig value printed on it. The back shows the Pied Piper of Hameln leading a crowd of red and grey rats past houses toward the town, framed by stylized grape-like ornaments and the text "Auszug mit den Ratten". The front uses a red and green floral border with tulips and a bold central 50 and the inscription "Gutschein d. Stadt Hameln".
