About this work
Das Breithorn by Ferdinand Hodler, dated 1911, shows a snow-covered alpine peak rising above a rocky, snow-streaked foreground. The sky is rendered in pale to deep blue bands, and the mountain's faces are built from broad, angular strokes of white, blue and brown.
