About this work
This etching titled Musselburgh Bridge, Edinburgh by Bertha Jaques, dated 1913, shows a multi-arched stone bridge crossing water beneath leafless trees that frame the composition. A large building with dormer windows and chimneys rises behind the bridge, with smaller houses along the right edge. The fine hatched lines render the stonework, foliage and shadows in tonal detail.
