About this work

A sepia-toned aquatint shows the long facade of the Tuileries palace across the Seine, with a multi-arched stone bridge extending to the right. Moored barges and rowing boats fill the foreground riverbank, where small figures stroll and rest. The print is drawn and etched by Thomas Girtin and aquatinted by F.C. Lewis, dated 1802.
