About this work

A pencil drawing on pale paper shows two women in voluminous hooped gowns with tall, feathered hairstyles, flanking a standing man in a buttoned coat and ruffled cravat. The figures appear to be in conversation, and the loose hatching suggests a preparatory sketch.
