About this work
This monochrome watercolor wash drawing shows a street view of older timber-framed buildings with gabled roofs and lattice windows, set against a pale sky. A brick wall rises at the right edge, and a few figures and a distant spire appear beyond the road. The work is titled Part of the Monastery of St. Saviours, Southwark, is attributed to John Whichelo, and is dated 1809.
