This ink and wash drawing shows a leaning tree with a pale trunk and feathery foliage rising at the center of a dense woodland. Several other trees, including tall trunks on the right and a canopy of rounded crowns in the background, recede into shadow across the scene. The work is signed with monogram and dated August 22, 1807, and is attributed to John White Abbott.
