This engraving shows a bearded, muscular man seated on a stone block, his bandaged foot resting on the rocky ground while he gazes upward. A quiver of arrows hangs behind him, and a bird lies dead at the lower left beside a fallen arrow, with the sea visible at the right. The print is titled Philoctetes in the Island of Lemnos, attributed to James Barry, and dated 1777.
