This pen-and-ink title page for Oliver Goldsmith's play She Stoops to Conquer, or The Mistakes of a Night, presents the title in flowing script inside an oval cartouche with scrolled edges and hanging ribbons. Branches of wild roses with blossoms, buds and leaves frame the cartouche on all sides. The work is a drawing by Alfred Parsons dated 1884, with his monogram visible in the lower left corner.
