About this work

A pencil drawing shows a uniformed figure in a plumed helmet handing a musket to a turbaned man, while three other figures stand behind them, one holding a second rifle and another carrying a large bag. The inscription along the bottom reads that the piece is a tracing from a design by Stothard for Sir Henry Russell's vase, depicting putting arms into the hands of the Indians.
