About this work

Two graphite figure studies share one sheet of paper. The upper study shows a man seen from behind, bending to lift a large trunk, with shading that defines his coat, legs and boots. The lower smaller study shows a seated man leaning over a box, with a bundle or shoe nearby. The sheet is signed and dated 1792 and attributed to George Morland.
