A pencil drawing shows a small seated child in a heavily textured, layered garment, with the head rendered in pale tones against a dark, hatched background. The child's hands rest on the arms of a wooden armchair, and the chair frame is faintly outlined behind the figure. Paula Modersohn-Becker made this work, titled Sitzendes Kind im Lehnstuhl, in 1902.
