About this work
This watercolor depicts a busy urban street corner with horse-drawn carriages, pedestrians in period dress, and shopfronts bearing painted signs such as Möbelfabrik. The buildings range from an ornate corner block to older gabled houses, rendered in warm, muted tones. The work is signed by Franz Poledne and dated 1899.
