About this work
A large painted seascape shows several sailing ships and a steamship at anchor on still water, with a small red rowboat carrying sailors in the foreground. A low sun glows through orange and lilac clouds above distant hills, and the ships' reflections stretch across the water. This 1844 work by Carl Dahl is titled The frigate Thetis and the corvette Flora on the river Tagus.
