About this work

An oil sketch shows a muscular, partially nude man grappling with a massive bull, his arm locked around the animal's head and neck. The loose, rapid brushwork and warm, earthy palette of browns and ochres emphasize the energy of the struggle. The work is attributed to Mariano Fortuny Marsal and titled A Sketch (Man Wrestling a Bull).
