About this work

A 1913 advertising poster for La Maltone, a malt-based drink sold as tablets, shows a uniformed boy with pince-nez glasses raising a frothy glass of beer while smoke curls from a cigarette in his other hand. Bold red and black French text promotes economy on wine, cider and beer, with the price of 3 francs for a case of 12 bottles. The work is attributed to an anonymous 20th-century artist.
