About this work
This illustrated poster advertises Docteur Festa, a hypnotism and suggestion performance, with the names Pascal Delagarde as director and several female performers listed. Vignettes show a man in evening dress levitating a reclined woman between two chairs, a woman in a red costume beside a mesmerist, and a dismembered-body stage illusion with a knife. The poster was produced in 1888 by an anonymous 19th-century artist.
