# Artnap

> Artnap (https://artnap.com) is an online archive of public domain artworks from the open access collections of museums and libraries. It has 497,737 paintings, drawings, prints and posters by 42,363 named artists. The works come from 72 museums and libraries; 48 of them have their own page. Standard files are JPEG images up to 2,500 pixels on the long side, without watermarks. Artnap Pro, a paid subscription, adds the museum's full-resolution master file.

## Licenses
- Most works are by artists who died in 1955 or earlier and are public domain in their country of origin.
- Many museums also release their images under CC0.
- A small number of photographs are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY); their pages give the required credit.
- Each artwork page names the holding museum, the image source and the license.

## When to use Artnap
- You need an image of a public domain or CC0 painting, drawing, print or poster: every work has a JPEG without a watermark, 2,500 px on the long edge; Artnap Pro adds the museum master file.
- You want to list the works of one artist, or browse the open access collection of one museum.
- You need to check which museum holds a work, where its image comes from and under which license it is published.
- You are looking for works by theme, art movement, culture or main color.
- You need a printable coloring page (PDF, A4 and US Letter) or a phone or desktop wallpaper made from a public domain work.
